Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Popsicles
A healthier take on a nostalgic favorite — made with simple, nourishing, real-food ingredients.
These Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Popsicles were a fun creation that started with a request from my daughter. She loves making homemade popsicles and asked if we could create a cookie dough version together. With a little inspiration from her favorite recipe book, For the Love of Popsicles, we grabbed ingredients from the pantry and made our own version — swapping in peanut butter, pure maple syrup, and tweaking the amounts to suit our style. The result seriously surprised me! They really do have that classic chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream flavor — only made with simple, clean ingredients you can feel good about.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Popsicles
Makes about 8 three-ounce popsicles
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk (we use cow’s milk, but any variety works)
- 1 cup finely ground almond flour
- ½ cup natural peanut butter (creamy)
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips (we love Ghirardelli 60% cacao)
- Additional chocolate chips for dropping into molds (if desired)
Instructions:
- In a blender, combine the milk, almond flour, peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla, salt, and the ¼ cup of chocolate chips.
- Blend until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the mixture into your popsicle molds, leaving a little space at the top.
- Sprinkle 3–4 chocolate chips into each mold (or more if you like it extra chocolatey).
- Insert the sticks and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
- When ready to enjoy, run the molds under warm water for a few seconds to help release the popsicles.
🥜 Why Peanut Butter
While typical cookie dough ice cream doesn’t contain peanut butter, we found that it plays a key role here. It helps create that creamy, dough-like texture using real ingredients — no heavy cream or artificial thickeners needed. Peanut butter naturally binds the almond flour and gives the popsicles richness and that soft “bite” that makes cookie dough so satisfying. The flavor pairs perfectly with maple syrup and chocolate chips — and although the peanut butter comes through, it doesn’t overpower. It’s a wholesome way to achieve that indulgent feel.
🧊 Our Favorite Popsicle Molds
We’ve been using these silicone popsicle molds (Amazon affiliate link) for years. They make 10 perfectly sized 3-ounce popsicles — the kind that feel just like the ones you’d find in the grocery store. We use both the reusable plastic sticks that come with the mold and sometimes opt for wooden sticks for a more classic feel.
🌿 A Nourishing, Guilt-Free Summer Treat
Skip the artificial flavors, corn syrup, and added sugars in store-bought frozen treats. These homemade popsicles are:
- Made with whole food ingredients like almond flour and peanut butter
- Naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup, which contains minerals and antioxidants
- Balanced with healthy fats and protein to help keep little tummies satisfied
- Fun and satisfying for both kids and adults
I couldn’t believe how true these tasted to cookie dough — that creamy, sweet, chocolate chip flavor in a cool, refreshing bite. The almond flour adds a gentle grainy texture that mimics real cookie dough, and the peanut butter brings it all together with its richness.
A Fun Family Project
This is a great summer kitchen activity to do with your kids! It’s simple, mess-friendly, and a fun way to get children involved in choosing wholesome ingredients. They’ll love dropping in the chocolate chips and watching their creations come to life in the freezer.
