1. Five Reasons Houseplants Are a Great Investment in Your Health & Wellbeing 🪴
With plant nurseries in full bloom, now is a great time to bring more greenery into your home! Houseplants don’t just make your home look beautiful—they can actually improve your health in some surprising ways. According to NASA research, certain plants can remove up to 87% of indoor air toxins in just 24 hours! Here’s why you should consider adding more greenery to your home:
- They clean your air – Plants like Aloe, Spider Plants, and Snake Plants filter out toxins like formaldehyde and VOCs.
- They help you breathe easier – They naturally remove dust, mold spores, and airborne chemicals.
- They reduce stress & boost mood – Studies show having plants indoors can lower stress and improve focus.
- They’re natural humidifiers – Plants release moisture, which helps with dry skin, sinus irritation, and allergies.
- They promote restful sleep – Certain plants, like Aloe and Gerbera daisies, release oxygen at night to support deep sleep.
Some of the best air-purifying plants include:
- Spider Plants – Great for removing toxins like carbon monoxide and formaldehyde.
- Snake Plants – A low-maintenance plant that releases oxygen at night, making it perfect for bedrooms.
- Peace Lilies – Help remove airborne mold and improve air quality.
- Aloe Vera – Not just for skin soothing—this plant also filters the air!
2. Get Grounded: The Health Benefits of Connecting to the Earth 🌎
One of the most powerful (and free!) ways to support your health is simply standing barefoot on the ground. Known as grounding or earthing, this practice connects your body to the Earth’s natural energy — leading to benefits like:
🌱 Less inflammation – Grounding reduces oxidative stress, which is linked to chronic disease.
😴 Better sleep – Helps regulate cortisol levels and circadian rhythms for deeper sleep.
💆♀️ Less stress & anxiety – Has a calming effect on the nervous system.
🩹 Faster healing – Supports wound healing and immune function.
🩸 Improved circulation – Enhances blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues.
How to start? Kick off your shoes! Walk barefoot on grass, sand, or soil, garden with your hands in the dirt, or try a grounding mat indoors. Just a few minutes a day can be so beneficial.
